I am hopeful that I will be able to understand sheet music more than anything. I have always been interested in reading sheet music, it seems to me like it is almost another language. I like that there are tools that can be used when learning to read sheet music; such as the space between the bars (FACE) spelling face, or the abbreviation for the notes that fall on the bars (EGBDF)

  • E – VERY
  • G – OOD
  • B – OY
  • D – ESERVES
  • F – FUDGE

I think that it will be helpful to understand sheet music thoroughly before I start to practice my songs on the piano. I plan to “decode” the sheet music for a greater understanding visually as I play piano. Going through and labelling all the notes so that I can see the patterns more clearly when I start to breakdown each section of the song into bridge, chorus, etc.

I hope to achieve success in this project because learning the piano is always been something I have wanted to learn and I would like to be able to play it in my classroom in the future!
