Bennie and the Jets sheet music (edited)

This week I focussed on the basics of starting to learn my final song – Bennie and the Jets by Elton John. I started in a similar way to what I had done for my first piece; I went through the sheet music and wrote the chords above the notes, and indicated any language or signs in the piece that would change the way I play the song. I looked for dynamics, tempo, and anything else that I would need to keep in mind while I learn to play this song. After I had gone through the sheet music, I find that it can look messy rather than organized. I take the chords and write them above the lyrics on a separate paper; this allows me to recognize patterns as well as find the parts of the song (introduction, bridge, chorus, etc.). By planning out the chords and lyrics, I can already see how the song will be played. I struggled with my first song to recognize those patterns, although with my second song I can understand easily what is going to be played. I am very proud of my process as I look back on my inquiry as a whole, I am excited to start my song and record the piece.

I hope to become more familiar with iMovie and video editing so that I can incorporate what I have learned in EdTech into my inquiry.

I have looked into ways to record myself playing piano and I found an instructional video on YouTube that I thought would be helpful in figuring out the best ways to edit//record myself playing the song.
